Despite weighing in at almost 13 ounces, the Burn's low profile midsole allows for a good trail feel and doesn't feel heavy. Its knobby, sticky-rubber outsole earned top points for gripping well on rocks, roots and mud, and the mesh upper breathed well, though impervious overlays on the upper's lower half compromised the shoes' drainability when sloshing through puddles. The heel pocket, reinforced for added stability, reliable toe protection and gusseted tongue make the Burn a good all-arounder.
Tester-monial: I was impressed with the Burn's top notch traction on very steep pitches of damp, clay-like soil.
